Community Baseball 6-0 for First Time in School History
Make it 6-for-6 for the Community Christian Academy baseball team.
Senior right-hander Hayden Rickett gave up two hits, walked four and struck out 10 in five innings Monday as the Cougars routed previously unbeaten Boca Raton Christian 11-2 in Stuart.
The Cougars improved to 6-0 for the first time in the program’s 12-year history.
“We weren’t really thinking about that,” Community Christian coach Ric Baldwin said. “We’re just taking it one game at a time right now.”
It was the first loss for the Blazers (9-1), who could muster only two singles against Rickett and Alex Roberts, who struck out two and didn’t surrender a hit in the final two innings.
It wasn’t a district game but “Boca Raton has become a pretty big rival the past couple of year,” Baldwin said.
The teams will meet again on April 17 at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter before a Florida State League game.
The Cougars had nine hits. Rickett helped his own cause, going 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs.
Keean Pritchard also was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs and Chris Lambros was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
